Mother’s Day

To all the mothers out there I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day! Sometimes being a mother is the toughest job out there but also the most rewarding. I hope that each of you are taking a couple of moments to pat yourselves on the back and recognize all the good work you’ve done so far. And keep in mind my rules for being a great mom:

Show up everyday

Love your children

Try to make the best decisions you can with the information you have

Never give up and be tough when needed


I am a Shoe Whore

Isn’t there a line from the Jennifer Weiner book “In Her Shoes” about fitting into the same size shoe even when you gain weight? I can’t remember the exact quote but I certainly live it. Shoes never let you down. A fabulous pair is always waiting to be found. I am known at work for my shoes. I like to think my fashion style is classic with a modern twist and a slightly outrageous pair of shoes. I really rely on my shoes to let my rebellious side out. Ok, so it’s a pretty minor rebellion but I need to stay on the good side of the law, keep a job, and be a good example for my boys. So, cut me a little slack for saying my shoes are my rebellion. ūüôā

Yesterday I went to Dillard’s and bought these two pairs of shoes:



Pretty fab – right?!

I have a dress on order from The Limited to wear with the yellow shoes. I also have a couple of ideas running through my head on other outfits to wear with the yellow shoes. I think shoes with some color are essential for this season. Color is big this year. Let’s embrace it!

Living the Good Life

Did you have a chance to see Martha Stewart on the Today show being interviewed by Matt Lauer?  I thought it was a great interview and I love her openness about aging and looking for romance.  Watching her made me really hopeful about my future as I age.  Here is the website and the video.  Check it out:

I have to say that I have very active parents who have aged beautifully as well.  Watching them live a good life, healthy and active, has been very inspiring.  As I age I want to do all I can to maintain my health and be active.

There are two areas that I am continually assessing:  my waistline and my exercise.

I will admit that my waist is a little thicker than I care for at this point. ¬†It’s not a problem yet but it continues to thicken each year. ¬†I need to put some focus on it.

Right now I am loving my yoga classes and getting a lot out of them.  I do need to increase my cardio as well.  I seem to be able to either do cardio OR yoga but not both.  I need to prioritize and get them both into my regular routine.

The important thing is to keep finding inspiration to stay active and healthy as I age.
